About Us

Volunteers packing food items into boxes on a long table indoors.

What are the knights?

Founded on the principles of charity, unity and fraternity, the Knights  of Columbus was established in 1882 by Father Michael J. McGivney,  assistant pastor of St. Mary's Church in New Haven, Conn., and a group  of parishioners. Their intent? To bring financial aid and assistance to  the sick, disabled and needy members and their families.

Charity/faith in action: Council’s inaugural “Summer Food for Kids” assembly at Redeemer, which was an article published in both the Catholic Virginian & the Mechanicsville Local or what is now the Ray Santucci Memorial Golf Tournament benefitting KOVAR.
